![]() Rating: - Decent Inexpensive PlayerI happened to be in the market for a small, cheap DVD player and found this model at Best Buy for only $30. At that price, I figured I had little to lose. While I've only had it a few weeks and run only 8-10 hours of DVDs through it, so far so good. On the plus side, it's played everything OK. But when I compare its image quality with my Toshiba player (3 yrs old), the Cyberhome just isn't as sharp, nor does it give colors the rich, saturated look that I like. So, if you're looking for a cheap player and don't mind giving up some image quality compared to the Sonys and Toshibas and Panasonics, you're likely to be happy. As for the machine's longevity, who knows? Rating: - Would not recommend!I don't normally review products, but, as I was scanning for a replacement for this POS, I found it for sale here at Amazon and thought that I may save someone else the headache. After being used for a total of about 12 hours, this player stopped working completely. It decided to hold my DVD hostage, refusing to either play it or open the disc tray. After trying every resource I could think of, I finally extracted my DVD with a screwdriver. Luckily, I got the disc out clean, since it's worth more than this junk player. Spend the extra money for a brand with actual customer service. Rating: - Cyberhome 300 and the Great DVD SwindleExtremely cheap player is GREAT GREAT GREAT when it works, but I've had some problems with it. First off, don't use any lense cleaners on it. My first player worked fine for the first two weeks until I used a lense cleaner and after that, it would have trouble reading the discs (I would have to press EJECT four or sometimes even five times before the disc caught on). I exchanged this for a second player and, for the next two weeks, everything was great once more. However, this second time around, I encountered a problem while trying to play MGM's DVD of WOMEN IN LOVE... the first and middle chapters would automatically skip and I would have to rewind in order to see what I had missed. I initially thought this was a disc problem, but after replacing the DVD, the new copy had the same problem. I then tried to watch another one of my MGM DVDs, this time THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, and I experienced the exact same problem. I then thought this was a player problem, but after replacing my Cyberhome for a third player (in two months!), my MGM discs still had chapter skipping problems. Aside for that problem, the player is fantastic. The discs run smoothly with hardly any skips and jumps, the player is silent, it plays CDs quite nicely, and the image is sharp and crisp. If it weren't for the (relatively large) problem with playing MGM discs, this player would be a steal. Proceed with caution and definitely make sure you get a warranty... Those with a large selection of MGM DVDs in your library (and this includes me) are advised to look elsewhere... it's not really worth the hassle. Everything else about the player, tragically, is flawless....
