Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - a decent dvd player
Everything works fine. Reasonable price. Nice design. I think it's a good product.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Locks up on mp3 discs
I bought this player from Best Buy. I tested DVDs, CDs, music CD-Rs, and mp3 CD-Rs. All worked fine initially. Two days later preparing for a Christmas Party, the player locked up after inserting the mp3 CD-Rs. The player normally shows a screen where you can see the folders and files. It locked on the background for this screen. I had to disconnet the power cord to the unit, and re-connect in order to retrieve the disc. The other types of media still play fine. I will be returning the unit for a different model/brand.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great buy for the price..
This player is fine for viewing on a HDTV. 480p is the standard for dvd signal and with progressive scan just enhances the picture so it looks better. With Component out and digital out this is a great buy. The claim that there is NO such player that can produce a HDTV picture from a dvd player is WRONG. If you want to spend alot more cash you can purchase the Toshiba Progressive Scan DVD Player with HDMI™ Upconversion .

Video Upconversion 720p/1080i - HDMI can support uncompressed digital video up to HDTV level resolution. Thus, the player makes use of this conduit by up-converting the standard DVD picture resolution to nearly HDTV-quality with output resolutions of 720p or 1080i. This makes a DVD player with an HDMI™ connection the perfect match for today's digital televisions. I give 4 out of 5,I just don't understand the HDTV Title for this Unit for advertising. I guess samsung is using progressive scan to target HDTV customers and telling them it's helping the picture out to look better on HDTVs.
